Supporting Yarn Shops, Charities, & Yarn Friends Everywhere!

It's been a busy week at Anzula. You might see me say we, it's still just me, but I'm not used to saying me/I. Anzula has been a team for so long, and will be again when we’re able to be together again. In the meantime, as we all stay quarantined for the benefit of health of so many individuals, I want to share with you all the ways you can partner with us to do good in the world!

1) Many local yarn shops are shipping orders, doing live video sales, mystery kits, bespoke surprise kits based on a word you give them, and in general offering so many fun ways for you to shop. If you need yarn, you should definitely check out LYS social media pages to see all the great stuff going on!

2) Another way to support LYS right now is to purchase yarn from the Anzula Online Shop and mention your favorite LYS (and the city and state the shop is in) in the comments during checkout. We will send them 25% of your purchase! This way you get to easily order yarn online right away, I get to keep working, and your LYS gets money to keep them going. It’s a win-win-win!

3) 25% of all retail sales of For Better or Worsted go to Central California Food Bank, World Central Kitchen, Oxfam America, World Health Organization, Doctors With Out Borders, or Feeding America. All you have to do is type your preference in the notes at check out. I will send the payment for you! And if you don’t want to choose, I will rotate through the organizations for any FBoW sale with out a charity mentioned.

4) Are you doing great? Do you have a ton of love and you want to share with other yarnies? You can Pay It Forward by going to https://anzula.myshopify.com/…/pay-…/products/pay-it-forward

5) If you are experiencing financial hardship we will gift you one skein per person in Luster, Silken, Croquet, or It Could Be Worsted. Enter the code stitchinplace at check out to get your free skein. You only need to pay shipping!

6) Designers, we love you! I promise I haven’t forgotten you. If you need yarn support let me know, I have something special set up for you to make sure you can get exactly what you need!

We love all of you so much, I can’t imagine my life without you and your support. Thank you so much for all the kind comments, yarn you’ve purchased, sharing your beautiful projects, and all the ways you share goodness through the whole world with string. We really couldn’t do this without you. You are amazing!

Introducing: Serenity

We're so happy to introduce Serenity!

Serenity in Hippo, Freesia, Charcoal, and Saffron

Serenity in Hippo, Freesia, Charcoal, and Saffron

Serenity is a fingering weight yarn made 4 plies of of creamy white cashmere. We had it twisted just enough to create a yarn that will be more durable than many cashmere yarns, yet still unbelievably soft, and also plump and round so that every stitch pops.

We made this yarn with stitchers of all types in mind. We wanted it to be a dream to work with. (And trust me, it is. I stretched out my secret sample knit for as long as possible).

The stitch definition on this yarn is incredible.

Serenity knit.

Just look at those cables!

Are you dyeing to try out this yarn? (We really can't help ourselves).

You'll see this yarn appearing in shops this month, just in time to start making luxuriously cozy treasures for fall and winter. We recommend keeping these for yourself, although a particularly knitworthy/crochetworthy/weaveworthy loved one would treasure whatever you make from Serenity for-ev-er. Maybe you should make two... ya know, just in case. ;)

Living Vicariously Through Anzula Trunk Shows: Part 2

Last we met, I was expressing my jealousy over the adventures that Sabrina has on the road. Well, I'm about to do that again. This last leg of the West Coast yarn adventure has ended, but there are new dates (Which I'll list at the end in case you're too lazy to click the link) so there could be some Anzula coming your way pretty soon here.

But in the meantime, here are a few of my favorite adventures from that last little bit. Hint: It includes Stitches West.

January 31: To kick off this part of my slideshow of jealousy, Sabrina is taking a selfie at Green Planet Yarn. When I'd first started dating my husband we visited Campbell, and I remember walking by after Green Planet Yarn had closed for the night, announcing that we'd have to visit the next day. He likes to tell it that I left a faceprint all the way across their windows as he dragged me away. Either way, I got a few skeins the next day, and he learned a valuable lesson—don't try and stop me when I'm intent on visiting an LYS.

February 4: When you have a yarn shop, your fancy knits can just get put out on display and tidied up as needed. When you're living the trunk-show life, you unpack, arrange a display, and then repack every sample every day. Which, just looking at these piles, I'm feeling a bit like I want to crawl into them and nap. Here they are on display at Atelier Yarns.

February 4: Sabrina is a voracious reader. I usually creep her booklist to decide what I should check out next. #fangirl #notevenashamed

February 6: Fun Anzula history lesson: the Grand Lake Farmers Market was one of the original locations to buy Anzula, back when Sabrina was a one-woman show and doing everything by herself out of her kitchen. The nostalgia hit home in this selfie.

And then came Stitches West

February 18: I love Stitches West. It's been 4 years since I last went, and every time I look at these photos of what our booth has become I get misty eyed. Freakin' gorgeous. And that's just Sabrina!
